Isaiah Perkins is a core voice, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer within House of Shem. Raised inside the musical and spiritual kaupapa of his father Carl Perkins, Isaiah developed his craft through whānau, church, rehearsal rooms, recording studios and live stages.

Alongside Carl and his brother Te Omeka Perkins, Isaiah helped shape the three-part harmony and family sound that carried House of Shem from Aotearoa to audiences across Australia, Hawaiʻi, the United States, Canada, the Pacific and beyond.

His musicianship combines vocals, songwriting, instrumental performance and production. Today, his work carries the House of Shem legacy forward through new music and the next generation of the Perkins whānau.

Ihaia Perkins, performing as HAIA, is a next-generation vocalist and recording artist carrying House of Shem whakapapa into his own contemporary voice.

HAIA features on Uru Whetu’s reggae single UEA, released on 9 August 2024 through Cinco Cine Film Productions. He also performed the waiata for Mokowhetū 2024 on Pūkana.

His screen and voice work includes contributing additional child voices and chorus to Disney’s Encanto Reo Māori, released in Aotearoa in September 2024.
